Cádiz Street is located in the heart of the Ruzafa neighbourhood. This is one of the most traditional neighborhoods in Valencia; its origin dates back to the 8th century, in the days of the Muslim Balansiya. The chronicles say that at that time, Prince Abd-Allah Al-Balansi had a splendid garden built on the outskirts of the city, known as al-Russafa.
Currently, Ruzafa has become one of the benchmark neighborhoods of Valencia, thanks largely to its multiculturalism, its innumerable leisure and gastronomy proposals, its incessant cultural activity and its attractive shops, where tradition shakes hands with the latest trends.
In its streets, arranged in an irregular grid, there are four-story buildings, dotted with stuccos with flowers, wrought-iron balconies and other modernist and art-deco decorative elements.
This postcard by Abraham Mondría thus portrays a small piece of a cosmopolitan and popular neighborhood that has been able to rise from its ashes to become a reference for modernity and diversity.
