Valencia's Columbus Market Art Print

This illustration by Abraham Mondría portrays one more example of the wonderful Valencian modernism of the early 20th century: the Mercado de Colón . A market that was born to respond to the needs of the bourgeoisie of the Eixample, who did not want to go to Ruzafa or the Central Market to get food. After a spectacular inauguration on Christmas Eve, the market began to decline until, at the end of the 20th century, it was already abandoned and almost all its merchants retired or retired.

The building and its surroundings underwent a comprehensive remodeling in 2003, and is currently a gastronomic space with franchises, luxury restaurants and an underground car park.
