The Doctor Collado Square is located behind the Lonja; it brings together old shops, colorful facades, cafes with a bohemian atmosphere and even an old and lonely olive tree, which reminds us that there once stood the Lonja del Aceite, the first that Valencia had. Precisely, this building along with some surrounding areas would be demolished in 1876 to form the current square that was dedicated to Luís Collado, professor of surgery at the University of Valencia in the s. XVI.
This print by Abraham Mondría portrays one of the most striking elements of the square: the large clock framed in wood that served as an advertising claim for watchmaking by José Calduch, at number 5, who opened it in the early years of the 20th century. The business was active for 75 years, until in the 80s of the last century it was replaced by a numismatic, the famous "La Lonja". The façade has been recently restored, fortunately preserving its characteristic clock.
